"Where have you been for the last 20 years?" - The question that changed everything. This isn't a BSDCan report, but a personal reflection on how impostor syndrome stole decades from me, and why it's never too late to find your community and live life fully.

Where Have You Been for the Last 20 Years? | MyNotes

A personal journey from 20 years of self-doubt to discovering the welcoming BSD community at BSDCan. Sometimes courage comes later in life.

Well, that's about enough for a Friday 13th! Pack up, beer'o'clock!

What the ... Lidl.
Food packaging with a promise "with nuts from EU (or not)"
What kind of marketing is this???

I thought I had a use-case for LLMs...
Feeling the "Personal Performance Management" HR process is just a load of bullshit, why not use the bullshit machine to help out?

Only to get a hard ass-kicking from my latent imposter syndrome when loading my LinkedIn profile and asking for unique qualities, strengths and talent.

What an utter crock-pot of bullshit this thing returns. Is this what "normal" people do to advance themselves in corporate life? This is stretching it waaay to far, yet if corporates apply the reverse filter to the way that I position myself (as they need to for all them inflated profiles/egos), I'll come out as an absolute botcher!

Thank (Shareholders) it"s RUNBSD Friday!!!

@jpmens normally I would almost agree to trying it *but* in the specific case of 12 -> 14 there is root shell change (csh to sh) and several other bits & bobs which I would not have felt comfortable you finding out "the hard way" so, from personal experience, I recommended the stepwise approach.

A bit like the change from Illumos ZFS to OpenZFS back when… sure, everything worked fine but...

@brnrd

Poisonous, heart medicine, and utterly gorgeous.

@h3artbl33d @bert_hubert

no, no, leave it.

I mean, I'll profit off the bad situation, sure. It'll keep the mortgage paid. I just... my timing was excellent, in the worst possible way.

Q: where do you persist your ssh-agent env variables?

I put them in ~/.ssh/agent (i.e. ssh-agent > ~/.ssh/agent && . ~/.ssh/agent && ssh-add) for reuse between tmux windows.

The location ~/.ssh/agent is what's chosen as the new location for OpenSSH agent socket, so I need to change that, looking for a sane way to do this.

High Tech Campus Eindhoven. Facade of P4-west parking one big sea of flowers. Looks like Goldenrain, but white in color, other facades have the flower in purple color.
Anyone know what this is?
