On my flight to Denver yesterday, I happened to glance out the window and see this guy hovering in the sky.
The #drought monitor for the western U.S. on 12/27/22 does show signs of improvement. I'll be curious to see what today's numbers look like after all the rain California received in the last week.
When I made my dentist appointment a year ago, I failed to consider the possibility it would be bitterly cold 365 days later—poor planning on my part.
Last month, I shared I was working on a #collaborative #governance paper/final project for one of my courses. I promised to share the biblio for anyone curious. This paper opened some great avenues for future work and represents at least one piece of what will be my dissertation.
In contrast to today's forecasted greyness, a painted sky from one year ago.
Something about fog, snow, and moonlight can make it feel like you're the only person in the world.

The FCC's preliminary maps for U.S. #broadband coverage show a few spots in the country with zero coverage, including a strip through the #Idaho panhandle.

"The FCC’s older maps collected data at the census block level, meaning that if a single home was served in a census block, the whole block would show up as served on our maps. The net result was maps that were overly optimistic, lacked location-specific information, and subsequently glossed over gaps in coverage."

The New Broadband Maps Are Finally Here

Today, the FCC is unveiling the pre-production draft of its new broadband maps.

In terms of #drought in the western U.S., we're in a slightly better spot than we were a year ago. The big numbers:
- We went from 13.52% to 2.02% of the region in D4 (Exceptional Drought)
- We went from 29.03% to 16.55% of the region in D3 (Extreme Drought)
- We went from 29.96% to 26.96% of the region in D2 (Severe Drought)

This #water season, we need a big #snowpack to help refill reservoirs and build soil moisture.
