Back in May 02023, we launched Spellstruck on Apple Arcade with a pantheon of Disney characters. It's been a galactic journey to get here, but last week we add Star Wars. New characters, new maps, but that's just the start.

Last week we had a small demo at the UTMessan conference with the Worldmapper team and Háskoli Íslands. We took a 19th Century idea of how to visualize the globe and brought it into Virtual Reality.
After donning the VR Goggles you were surrounded in a 360 inverted globe. Everything to the proper projection. We used NASA imagery and distorted cartograms.
It was always amazing to watch people look around and smile durning the experience.

Today is Bolludagur (Bun Day) in Iceland, which was only cemented as a tradition ~100 years ago. Before that, it was the Danish tradition of Fastelavn. That’s where you beat a live cat out of a barrel sort of like a piñata. Much of those traditions transfer to Ash Wednesday here in Iceland, the cat became a raven, then candy.
Back in 02013, we were visiting Ueno zoo in Tokyo. At closing time everyone headed for the exits except a few people who “knew”. We decided to follow them and went to the panda exhibit. When it was quiet, the pandas came out to be feed.
Managed to take a stop-motion video. Now those pandas are returning to China.
Saw this eScooter with what looks like an official MOT tag for a car. The translation is “use prohibited”. Probably some guerrilla interference. The love for eScotters is certainly split amoung residents!
Saw this ad on the local news website for Wolt (gig economy food delivery service). Just assumes that it is an AI generated Owen Wilson rather than actually hiring him. (It might be legit, but if you hire someone so high profile why does the mug and paper bag look so “fake”? And if they didn’t hire him can they hide behind this AI? 🤷🏻♂️)

Saw these local chocolate bars a few months ago. The geometric designs smelled like AI but wasn’t going to make a big deal and if it turns out it is designed to ape that “style”.
They now released a range for the Yule lads. Hm.. didn’t know they have 9 fingers. #aislop
