Spring is coming and the pigs are excited to see the start of new grass growing. Just a few more weeks until we are grazing!
Our wool pellets are 100% wool from when we used to have sheep. They are used as a soil amendment for your gardens or your household plants. It helps with moisture retention, soil, aeration, and is a great source of macro and micro nutrients. It will break down in 6 months to 1 year. Mix 1/4 cup pellets with 1 gallon soil mix.
Our goats this year have such fun colors and patterns!
Country ribs are cut from the shoulder. Great on the grill, slow roasted in the oven, or thrown in a crock pot. A very versatile cut.
Even with the warmer weather over the weekend our fields are still deep with snow. The chickens are laughing at us as they casually step over our 4 foot high electric fence to meet us in the mornings.

It is National Sparerib Week, so now is the best time to pick some up from your favorite pork farm. Ok, I don’t think there is an actual sparerib week, but we are swimming in spareribs this week.

Our simplest way we make spareribs is to rub them with a bit of salt and pepper, then something slightly fruity. This can be as simple as some apple sauce. Put the rack in roasting pan covered in foil and set your oven to 250 F for most of the day. Yum!

I love the paths our pigs make in the snow. Always out exploring, no matter the weather.

Our farm’s welfare certification (Animal Welfare Approved by A Greener World) reinforces this in AWA Standard 7.5: “Animals who have been properly selected for the specific climate conditions will voluntarily choose to go outdoors in all but the most extreme weather.”

All of our animals have access to portable shelters they can hunker down in if they choose, or they can roam and play in the snow. Go pigs!

We got a full beef restock from our friends at Stone Hill Farm over in Plainfield, CT. Their beef is 100% grass fed and finished. We are very limited on whose products we bring into our store but we fully stand behind their raising practices.
Reminder our goatskins and sheepskins are on display at all our farm store hours. Come on by and check them out.
Last chance on the Even Spicier Fennel sausage. We only have a few packages left for this sausage flavor. I guess that means we need to find some time to make the next batch on this sausage adventure.
