@kimlockhartga Many librarians follow award nominees/winners to order, but sometimes the budget doesn't allow for all. I also found some Booker nominees were not readily available via library vendor in the US. It always helps to have a patron request a title as "proof" it has a local readership!
Finished THE WISHING GAME by Shaffer and while enjoyable, if you're going to read a book about a quirky treasure hunt with heartfelt characters and puzzles that keep you guessing, I'd go with TUESDAY MOONEY TALKS TO GHOSTS by Kate Raccula. #AmReading #bookstodon

It's the best kind of prickly fairy tale about a princess who isn't, and a perilous quest (of course) on a path that winds through darkness and horrors—living and undead.
There's magic & curses & blessings & also hope & friendship & bravery & light.
There's also a demon chicken and a goblin market that's one of the creepiest I've ever visited, and I want it to keep going forever.

This was on my list for awhile before I finally read it, and then I couldn’t put it down. Quirky, complex, fierce, and independent characters, coming together to create family. Intergalactic love story, making deals with the devil, and baking donuts. Great trans main character — doesn’t sugar coat things, but they’re powerful and pull you in.
