Sign of a recession coming? I'm a tax pro and am seeing way more 1099-C Cancellation of Debt tax forms this year.
They can be a nasty shock. Why? Because generally the cancelled debt becomes taxable income. Ouch.
(If Box 5 is checked, it's taxable.)
