#NowPlaying the new Tumble In Shade album by #GarciaPeoples guitarist/singer Danny Arakaki, out Friday on Husky Pants Records. First listen and I am fully smitten.
This confirms my belief that any album featuring Ryan Jewell on #drums with #art by D Norsen is worth buying on the spot. #IndieRock #vinyl #NewMusic @vinylrecords
Steal Your Face
Paint on wood, 24", 2022
I never posted a pic of this piece alone, so here
Culture Hustle metallic gold on Black 3.0
The skull is cut out of quarter inch ply, mounted on a larger disk of thicker wood. Black 3.0 is a great ultra flat dark paint with a nice velvety finished look.
For sale.
Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway with Jerry Douglas - Dooley's Farm
Last one for tonight - I figure I should post something from her Grammy nominated album. The album version features Billy Strings and is excellent, but dobro genius Jerry Douglas has been the greatest accompanist in acoustic music for a few decades now so I think he'll do
This song describes part of the world I grew up in out in the country... Some farmers are more fun than others!
Bela Fleck's My Bluegrass Heart with Molly Tuttle, Sierra Hull, Billy Strings, Michael Cleveland and a bunch of other killers at the Ryman last year. I have flac audio of this show I can dig up
When Bela put together his first bluegrass project in many years he called on the best of both his generation and the younger players. Molly, Sierra and Billy are all amazing talents who can hang tough with some of the best to ever do it.
Molly Tuttle - Standing on the Moon
You can find a few different performances on YT and elsewhere but I think this solo one was the first and it's my fav. Gorgeous. She does a lot of great covers.
Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway - White Freightliner Blues
Gonna post a few Molly Tuttle gems tonight since she's gone and got herself nominated and whatnot. Her albums are more ensemble and vocal oriented but she is an absolutely smoking guitarist and that gets overlooked a bit. Her flatpicking skill is off the charts and it's on full display on this great Townes Van Zandt tune.
