BACK IN MY DAY, AI STOOD FOR ADOBE ILLUSTRSTOR, AND WE HATED THAT TOO

If a billionaire is a policy failure, a trillionaire is a civilizational one.

One person hoarding that much wealth in a world where people are in need — hungry, sick, homeless — is the end product of a society undergoing the complete collapse of human decency.

A trillionaire is an obscenity.

Wookie meat is a bit chewie.

For whatever reason I remembered that on the 15th of May, 2006 - a week after my graduation from university, I started my first “real” job in a Bulgarian IT company called Netage (currently Dynamo Software).

Thus started my (so far) 20 year career in tech. In theory I was supposed to become an auditor after earning a BA in Accounting and Finance but I guess this opportunity pushed me in another direction. I don’t regret it, I have really enjoyed myself so far and have learned a shitton.

Why I'm leaving GitHub for Forgejo | Jorijn Schrijvershof

I left GitHub for self-hosted Forgejo on a hardened NUC. The reason is digital sovereignty, not reliability outages. Here's the thinking and the architecture.

Remember the early days of Uber and Lyft, when rides were dirt cheap because the companies were operating at a loss in order to capture the minds/wallets of the masses?

The rug pull in the AI/LLM world when the companies adjust pricing to actually make a profit is going to be spectacular. Especially when you consider the numbers of people / orgs that are addicted to or dependent on such technology.

I was supposed to run a half marathon in #leiden but since my bib didn’t arrive in the post and their customer service was less than helpful, I made a round from my house to however far I could get. Not my best time due to a back injury 4 weeks ago but I’m pretty happy.

The good people on the r/Hardlopen subreddit said I should be able to get a substitute at the information desk but I had already lost all interest in going to Leiden and spending time and money when I could end up not #running

Ok, they just gave us menu’s in German after we decided to just do English this time. Lol

We’re in Egmond aan Zee, a cute little village (not sure village or town) on the North coast of NL, 50ish minute drive from Amsterdam.

In Amsterdam people switch to English whenever they hear me speaking Dutch (and my Dutch is not THAT bad), but here they switch to German 😂

I guess it’s due to the high number of German tourists occupying the Dutch coast (a tiny little WW2 joke)
