And Laura Ann Carleton doesn’t get to be friends with anybody anymore, or attend church functions or backyard barbecues, because she was murdered.

She was murdered over *political views.*

Just some things I noticed.

If You Want To Be Friends, Then Why Aren’t You Friendly?

A look at one of the most alarming and pressing problems of our age: the much-lamented fact that "the left" won't be friends with "the right," over "political views."

@aral as a Hungarian I feel like Hungary should be talked about in the EU way more. The amount of fucked up things happening under the current government is crazy, and barely any of it is getting reported outside of Hungary, and even inside the reporting is little.
Yeah, OK. Great, I guess. But why not just ban lobbying? How is lobbying even a thing? Being paid to promote private interests is, by definition, corruption, isn't it? #lobbying #lobbyists #politics #corruption #parliament

“I urge us striking at the same time as the writers to change the awful inequity of money and power in film and television. I remember when we went on strike in 1960, the only time writers and actors struck at the same time. That strike got us film residual checks. A monumental change.

This moment is important and unusual, not to be missed.”

Inspired by all the talk of the new, awful social media site, I watched the 1984 BBC movie THREADS, and reader, I was not prepared for that. Hats off to everyone 40 years ago who took a tiny budget and made the most harrowing docudrama ever.

I grew up in the UK in the 1980s in a town where they would test the air attack siren every year. I joined CND. I watched Threads. At school. I still sometimes wake crying from nightmares caused by growing up at that point in the Cold War.

So that’s one social media app I’m going to mute mentions of over here.

Went with the kids to see #TheFlash movie yesterday. We all loved it. I laughed like a twat all the way through. If you were on the fence about this one, I'd say; go. I was even feeling a bit multiversed-out beforehand. They found a new slant on it, I think.
