On the plus side, I'm evacuated to the south and the air isn't so bad here. Sadly, many of my neighbours are evacuated north in the most toxic air I've ever seen on purpleair. 😒😱 #wildfires

Evacuated. We're safe with our cats, we'll see how the next few days go for our home.

Apocalyptic scenes up here in south-central British Columbia. This photo was from when things were relatively calm.

I'm not sure it's ever going to be a "thing" like #mosstodon but here's my contribution to #moosetodon.

This absolute unit (actually kind of small for a moose, but still) visited our yard yesterday. No sign of Rocky. 🫎

The back-woods, working class, remote rural community near where I live, whose primary employers are a zinc/lead smelter and a pulp mill, just elected amazing queer hero, Birkley Valks, to the local school board of trustees. He soundly won the election against a hate-mongering anti-trans bully.

I'm not much for the discourse lately, but I just *have* to join @Daojoan in being outraged about this deepfake thing. https://mastodon.social/@Daojoan/111892626802385631

It's utter garbage and needs to be eradicated with extreme prejudice. Solnit's piece in the LRB yesterday was on point, and this is just so much more *that*. https://www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v46/n03/rebecca-solnit/in-the-shadow-of-silicon-valley

It's enough to make me move to the woods (and disconnect the internet!)

Playing for the first time, as if that were possible.
Our cats really want to go outside, but it's too smoky out and this particular gear doesn't exist yet. This might be the thing that makes me cave and buy that 3D printer...
