Professional software guy, used to be a Sydneysider, but now exiled to London. I used to write special effects software. Teaches historical sword play and paraglides when he can. #HEMA #paragliding
A beer by the Thames. I made it to the local pub for the first time since I ruptured my Achilles. A long slow hobble back home on crutches, but it was worth it.

So one of my hobbies is historical sword play, and I’m very been translating a set of Italian manuscripts from the late Middle Ages. The proof print of one of my translation arrived today. Looks good, but needs a bit of tweaking. Ironically it came as I was designing a very appropriate tshirt for my club.

So I snapped my Achille’s tendon on the weekend. I was doing a bit of #HEMA, and sparing with sword and buckler when it just went twang! A&E put me in a cast and said it looks to be completely ruptured. Seeing the orthopaedics unit at Charing Cross Hospital on Weds for a full assessment. Whatever happens, I’ll be hobbling in a cast for at least six weeks and no paragliding or full on HEMA for a few months. As it is I can barely make it up the stairs. Bother.
Cheering myself up by making biscotti. Not sure if the chocolate ones turned out well.
Today I’m doing some knitting. Extending my mail collar as it was too short and keeps slipping out from under my breastplate. #armour #armizare #hema
Spending a day walking along the English south coast.

The BBC says it’s a bit windy in London today. 3508 miles per hour. Apparently. Fortunately it all calms down by Friday.

Bounty from our suburban back garden. Loads more apples on the tree. The squirrels are also fond of them.
Visiting my mother in law in France. View from the bedroom of the C13th house we are staying in. Most of her town dates from the middle-ages.
Ivan and I discussing the finer points of being shiny at the Avoncroft living history fair last weekend.
