On a trip to KSC, I paused as I left the Launch Control Center to take a photo of the VAB towering over our bus. The security guard hissed at me about a lightning advisory and insisted that I get on the bus without taking the snap.
When I reached my wife, I recounted this, and the guy in the seat behind said, "They can't do that! This is a free country!", and stood up and got off the bus.
So the security guard literally threw him back aboard again!
I've decided to set a new life goal... To represent the country in curling at the next Winter Olympics. Today's first session was a resounding success; I didn't touch a stone after setting it in motion, nor did I swear at the opposition.
(The 4-hour round trip to the nearest rink might be a limiting factor on this ambition, though...)
@markmccaughrean I know not how, but I'm receiving emails from ISRO asking if I wish to submit a proposal for observation time on Aditya-L1... (The links are legit, so it's not spam)
Whilst I'm a little flattered, I am absolutely not the right person! Is there someone in your wider circles who might benefit from this?
Somehow, I know not why, I've received an AO (Announcement of Opportunity) email inviting me to submit a proposal for observation time on ISRO's Aditya-L1 probe!
I'm flattered to be considered, but I'll leave it for more qualified applicants!
The family's Christmas tradition is to prepare a Winter Village display out of Lego. Even after months of planning and building, even the most tried-and-tested pieces still suffer from stage fright at the most crucial moment in recording the video...
Merry Christmas, everyone!
We're the same. Both my wife and I are 100+ entrants, and we would extend our trips by bringing the family over as well. So much so that our kids have perhaps the largest collection of NPS Junior Ranger badges in Europe! (Declined offers of Green Cards on several occasions, too)
But not any more. Now we're checking all travel plans to ensure that even an emergency diversion wouldn't land there...
