This rock south of La Rabida Hospital on Chicago’s South Side hosts some of the lakefront’s most magnificent carvings, 12 of them, all apparently from the same hand and executed between 1948 and 1953. When I found it the rock was right at the water line, very wet and colorful. This year it is well above the water, dry and restored to its normal color.
