News Explorer 2.2.3 is now available for macOS, iOS and iPadOS. This maintenance update contains a few essential fixes, support for quotes in Mastodon feeds and an updated icon compatible with the new icon styling options of OS 26.

News Explorer 2.2.1 is now available, with:
- Improved iCloud synchronization of very large articles.
- Improved handling of adding Google News feeds.
- Fixed YouTube issues with ‘The Daily Show’ and other feeds.
- New setting to flip bottom action buttons in the iOS app.
I think it’s crazy that Alan Dye had no experience with UI design before being thrust into a position of power over platform design, affecting millions of apps at a global scale. He has a responsibility to the industry. Platform design should be way more comprehensive and far less restrictive than this.

Since a few days ago, YouTube has changed the handling of embedded videos. In News Explorer 2.1 this results in an “Error code: 4” image with a “This video is unavailable” header.
We are currently working on a fix. In the meantime, please use the YouTube button in the toolbar to play the video.
