Same as before. Mother of mongrels, mam, researcher, volunteer. Working for disability rights and reproductive justice. Living for family, good food & the autistic buzz. More time for music, nature & stillness would be nice.
She/her/yer wan from Tipp.
@betaburns it's #Eirephant for me. They're a good spirit animal for the Irish when you think about it - the women are actually running the show, they're very good at death and they never forget *stares at Theirry Henry*
I’ve been here for years and I’m an instance admin and I still don’t really know how the posts go from one website to another. I think it’s the same technology they use to send pokemon to a different game boy

The term "fediverse" is now deprecated in favour of "United Federation of Posters". All instances must now add the subdomain "uss" to the start of their URL, and the "Toot" button should be changed to "Engage". References to "admin" will become "captain".

Please block all traffic to Romulan servers.

Make it so.

Coming from Twitter?

Let's use the #IrishTwitter hashtag to introduce ourselves and find others who've moved over.

Here’s an idea: let’s call people “people” on the fediverse instead of “users” whenever we can.

Compare:

“There are 42 users on this instance.”

vs

“There are 42 people on this instance.”

Which acknowledges our humanity more?

Language matters. We don’t need to perpetuate mainstream technology’s othering/colonial framing of “us” – designers/developers/other “clever folks” – and “them” – the users (usually one step removed from “dumb user” and usually the ones who get used).

#peopleNotUsers

When you report a toot on http://Mastodon.ie it is reviewed by people who live in Ireland. We know what racism and transphobia, etc sound like in Ireland. There's a ton of potential here for a truly inclusive space.
First website in Ireland ✅
First Irish uni on Mastodon ❓
Suddenly overwhelmed with emotion as RTE radio one is about to talk about the closure of Delaney’s Bike Shop in Harold’s Cross. An institution, the oldest bike shop in #Dublin So many wonderful memories of days in there with my uncles and cousins and their wonderful loyal customers. #irishtwitter I believe there’s still time to pick up a closing down bargain. Since they were young lads Paul and Brian worked their socks off in there with their late dad Jimmy. Give them a great send off.

Since #gaeilge is trending right now, if you folks on #irishtwitter know anybody who speaks Gaeilge na hAlbann #gàidhlig please send them my way - I have created a server https://ailbhean.co-shaoghal.net/
