It was a pleasure to have @HenriBontenbal visiting @_amolf today! A member of parliament and a physicist, who really appreciates the importance of fundamental science.
Had a wonderful brainstorm day with the group, generating hundreds of new ideas for projects, collaborations, and how to organise ourselves! Bravo group 🙌
Finally got a #SolarTable! Harvested some delicious photons today. ☀️

Wondering why the energy costs have risen so steeply? At least in part because the oil and gas industry makes absurd profits - 260 bn USD last year (doubled in a year). All that, while their products destroy the planet & many people live in energy poverty.

What an image! German police protecting a giant ignite coal digger against climate activists in #Luetzerath. The painful death of an outdated energy source.
To illustrate how far it is we let it write an entire Perspective article on lead toxicity in metal halide perovskite devices. I’m pretty sure it would pass peer review: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsenergylett.2c02828?goto=supporting-info
Artificial intelligence text editors change scientific publishing forever. How? We’ll see, but we need a way to deal with it right now. It can already write an entire Perspective article. See our viewpoint by Gianluca Grimaldi @_amolf in @ACSEnergyLett: https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsenergylett.2c02828#
You need a car to transport bulky things like a tree. But to transport two trees, you obviously need a bicycle!
