@sabremc That looks like an inductor to me, I think the board label is actually L2 at the lower right edge of the component as we are looking at it.

Since all the components on this side of the board are passives it might be useful to look at the reverse side where there might be some surface mount actives?

@EricAlper Been there, done that.

Family gave me only one hour to visit. I think that for a first time visit three hours would have been fairer. I've told the family I'll want a full afternoon next time.

Heating oil price from local consortium. January 57ppl + VAT, today 120ppl + VAT. I'd normally be ordering about 1200l. I think I'll try and delay.

Why do I think Starmer is going to insult a lot of people today.

Hmm,

"This address is set to gain access to a gigabit broadband connection delivered by CityFibre" Yay!

Project completed by 31.12.2024 ?

I have news for you, no fibre of any description here.

Exactly the quality and accuracy I expect from a government service.

A perfect score. TV licencing advert with eight example programs to entice me to buy a TV licence. Eight programs I wouldn't touch with a barge pole even if you paid me.

PS. Already have a TV licence but not to watch this XXXX

@jspath55 I'd guess it's the receiver for a wireless doorbell or similar.

The unconnected lead on C17 forms the antenna for wireless reception.

Doorbell or lock can be determined by what's on the end of the red & yellow wires.

@bastelwombat @RueNahcMohr @skua I'd agree I think the circuit is safe enough, the label is on the wall wart transformer that is feeding 12Vac to the PCB.

I don't think C1 is the issue, although the soldering on C1, R1 and U1 all look none to clever.

My bet would be that U1 (looks like a voltage regulator for U2) has blown but without part numbers for U1 or U2 you've little chance.

Bet the tree kills wifi for miles around when running.

@cstross Now that's a crossover I'd like to see.
