The time it takes to publish can vary considerably between fields and journals. This can make it difficult, for instance, for funding bodies to evaluate different candidates strengths. PhD publication time per field

The goal of this form is to quantify how variable publication time is per research field and journal. There is one additional question that aims to specifically look at the field of systems neuroscience, which is often thought of as an outlier, where publications take a longer than average time.

Back in the 90s, when I was in grad school, sensory decisions were analyzed with “signal detection theory”. Since then, many have found it more fruitful to use logistic classification: the observer weighs the factors, uses their sum to bias a coin, and flips the coin.
