@sellathechemist or… it’s not worth bribing anyone on the left.
@devkate @tante understanding something is not the same as knowing it or of having an education in it. You can take a horse to water but you cant make it drink.
@tante I’m not convinced that’s a human right. It would be nice to understand the world, it would be nice to understand the universe. Education is important. But I’m not even sure we’re capable of understanding, let alone that it should be a human-right…

*Both Human Rights Watch and the cross-party law reform organization Justice say recent legislative changes have created a chilling effect on lawful protest and should be repealed. Their reports, simultaneously published on Thursday, also say that proposals for more curbs should be halted.*

@deHaga @9point6 Unfortunately we do have the same lunatic first-past-the-post voting system which favours division and discourages cooperation and compromise. It polarises and distorts allowing minorities to dictate. The tories under Johnson with 42%, Starmers Labour with <34% of the vote... and yet in both cases they command a significant majority in the house. My guess is Reform could get a 3rd of the vote (as populist parties have in Europe recently) and with FPTP that may be enough.
@gleick they voted for Trump so I can only assume so… you get the politicians you deserve.
@rms the US has become a rogue state where the rule of law means nothing. One thing I have sadly come to acknowledge this past year is that the US is not an ally - they are only interested in themselves - and in the current case that means lining the pockets of dictators. The sooner everyone accepts this the better. With such weak legislative controls they cannot be trusted.

Your party is the reason we’re in this mess. Your dogmatism and unwillingness to compromise provides passive support to the far right. We live in a two party system and you’re splitting the vote on the left and opening the door to a more organised right wing. Wake up! You’re unelectable!

Voters’ voices are being shut out of British politics. Your Party has a radical plan to change that

At our conference in November we will use a jury service-type model to allow members to discuss and decide policy, strategy and even the name of our party, says Your Party co-founder Jeremy Corbyn
