Jerome GLoggerhead shrike. For the first time in many years, I don’t have a trip planned to the Channel Islands. I’m very worried for the future of the country and for our precious natural spaces. Feels like mourning.
This is one of my favorites. The background is the “hairy”’part of a fan palm tree. Not too difficult to capture; just needed the right moment. The more brightly colored males are at the top of the hierarchy for resources but even within them, there seems to be a sub-hierarchy that depends on the individual temperament of the bird. Some are more aggressive and brave.
