A tribal rabbit of Brazilian cottontail species. Armed with a sharp spear and a sharper tongue. Sometimes writes stuff. She/her.

My name is a pseudonym; I'm not a rabbit in reality, either.

Geez, finally writing down the whole concept of the background and plot for the thing I'm working on feels both liberating and troubling. The former because I finally got something that I can share and discuss with others, the latter because of how tough some of the topics are going to properly execute because of how sensitive they are.

I need to be more mindful of these in my writing and blogging.

Stephen King’s 20 Rules for Writers

Image by the USO, via Flickr Commons In one of my favorite Stephen King interviews, for The Atlantic, he talks at length about the vital importance of a good opening line. “There are all sorts of theories,” he says, “it’s a tricky thing.” “But there’s one thing” he’s sure about: “An opening line should invite the reader to begin the story.

@MichaelPryor So very much this. This year was a stretch, it was hard for me to finish NaNo while working on one and the same story.

Next year... welp. We'll see.

OK. Writers of Mastodon. How the hell do you keep your info for your books / story/ game organised?

At the moment I have a document with ideas, a document with actual writing progress, and a separate document with descriptions of characters and places. It seems clumsy, but I can't think of anything better. I don't have any wall space for a bunch of post-it notes.

Resting after NaNo. It was an exhausting endeavor.

Can we please refrain from all the capitalist lingo that has made it into music and the arts, and call it out when we hear it. Yesterday, I heard other artists being referred to as ”competitors”. They are not competitors, we are colleagues. We don’t compete for listeners’ time. There is not a finite pool of listeners’ time to compete about. We create each our own unique music to enrich the lives of more people. We are not competitors. We are colleagues, peers.

This cover (see parent post) won the NaNoWriMo Covervision contest in the Original Work category for Europe. A surprise for me!
