Bringing order to chaos with Linux/BSD, scripting, Ansible, packaging, build tools, etc.
@niqdanger I remember back in the day there being a lot of parallel port to SCSI adapters
Hooray for heat! We like heat on the winter. 🔥🔥🔥

So i know not all EPEL’s are made equal, but EL9 EPEL has an ntpcheck package which has a sub command: ntpcheck utils ntpdate

(I don’t have any EL10 hosts readily available to check against)

@joshbressers I’ve been pretty happy with how that’s been going for the headless fedora box in my office. I think I’ve been doing the upgrade remotely since F38.

Why is it that every time we have problems with the HVAC in the house, it’s in the winter, in the middle of the night, on the weekend?

Since it’s not horrendously cold, we toughed the weekend out and they are coming this afternoon (so I could avoid an emergency call fee).

@niqdanger @fedops my first thought as a regular AlmaLinux user was “what the hell is AlmaLinux Kitten?” (Full blown Alma 10 came out in May of this year fyi).

Anyway, I’m almost positive there’s another ntp tool(s) either in base or EPEL. For some reason I thought 10 used systemd-timesyncd (maybe that’s Ubuntu).

At an appointment ATM, but will try and check when I’m back at a computer.

@niqdanger I had the double whammy of cataract surgery and getting progressives. Been able to read a book my whole life without my glasses until the surgery where I got lenses in my eyes tuned for distance. Amazing that I can drive without glasses now, but big adjustment to need glasses/magnification to read. But then got the progressives so also adjusting to “top for driving, middle for computer, bottom for reading” Was very awkward at DMV for eye test when renewing license. #gettingold
@mwl I love this so much.
@georgetakei
Thank you, well, “for you” as well. I met you ever so briefly in an autograph line circa 1993-4 at ICON at SUNY Stony Brook in Long Island, NY. Something I especially noticed was that even in those brief moments of keeping an autograph line moving, you were incredibly gracious to the fans and tried to ask personal questions or at last a “how are you doing today?” This personal touch on your behalf has stuck with me all these years later.
@niqdanger Especially since you’re in Fedora, native livbirt/KVM works quite nicely.
