The work/shop will gather a small group of people eager to imagine what comes next, and all too aware that the usual tricks—the planning and projections, the goals and milestones and objectives—aren’t the right tools for this part of the work. We’ll use speculative fiction to break out of those ruts, to open up a lens on how we think about work that creates more awareness, more opportunities to revise and re-story our work, more room to maneuver—even on the darkest of days.
(Gonna talk up my work here for a minute, feel free to mute if you're allergic to that kind of thing.)
An incomplete list of things I’ve worked on with my clients in just the past few months:
- coming to terms with what it means that the job opportunity they were most excited about requires moving to a state where it’s dangerous to be pregnant
- learning how to identify (and interrupt) burnout patterns both in the workplace and in themselves… (1/4)
I have a small number of open positions for new clients this fall. I'm biased, obvs, but my clients are a bunch of badass motherfuckers making big changes in their lives and work—and in the world around them. everything changesWe said goodbye to our beloved Furiosa last week. It was very sudden, and far too soon. The house feels empty without her.
Fury used to do this thing where if she sensed your attention had wandered away from her and to a screen, she would paw you and give you the most WTAF face I have ever seen on a dog. Just total incredulousness that something could be more interesting than her. I loved her for it. Logging off in her honor. 👋
Something I often talk about with my clients is to question when we reflexively say we have “no choice” but to do something. We always, always have a choice. “No choice” usually really means “I don’t want to bear the consequences of not doing this thing.” Which then opens up space to ask: what are those consequences? Why are *those* the things we don’t want to bear? And what are the consequences of *making* this choice?
Also I have a couple of open slots for new clients in the next month. I’m especially eager to work with women/trans/nb folks who are working to imagine new, non-patriarchal models of leadership and teamwork. If that’s you (or someone you know), let’s talk:

everything changesAfter several weeks away from the internet, and a cautious and gradual return, I am realizing (among other things) how much I really like the work I’m doing right now. I feel more like myself than I think I have in any other job before. And I’m so fucking proud of the work my clients are doing—they’re building so much space and liberation and real change for themselves and their coworkers and kin.
I asked the real Furiosa for her opinion on the new trailer, but she declined to comment.
Oh I see Silicon Valley believes in worker power after all.
This beastie is 8 years old today, which I think means that fully 100% of our household is in the throes of a mid-life crisis.
