@SR_Toliver Sadly, I think we'll see a lot of challenges and election denial across the board in tight races. But the fact that PA re-elected a blue governor should help!

The destruction of Twitter by Elon Schmuck would be funny to me if it was not one of my main sources of income. Most of my freelance editing and translating gigs come from academics who first heard about me on there.
There are thousands of writers, freelancers, sex workers etc. who, like me, rely on the visibility Twitter gives them. Despite being awful in many ways, it is also a place of true community.
I'm a bit sad and worried about it all

I very much appreciate the posts on here that are informed by internet history. #Mastodon and #fediverse are new to many of us, but there is precedent for the experience of independent systems that get found by those fleeing commercial systems, #federation history, lots of examples of things going lots of ways. Pay attention to this moment - it's transitional - and many previous transitions didn't work out the way they looked in the beginning
