Engineering the intersection of mind, machine, and myth.

Are there any hobbyists using #GenAI to make anything, whether it's software, #gamedev, art, or anything else, with #ComfyUI or any other tools, who want to start a Discord group for motivation, collaboration, and discussion? If so, comment here or DM me. My wife and I would love to connect and build a community space for AI creatives and enthusiasts to share their work, share cool models or workflows they find, brainstorm ideas, and encourage one another to finish their projects.

The theories of Mark Solms — that #consciousness is seated in the upper brainstem rather than the cortex, and the "light" of consciousness goes out when the ability to feel is removed — are something that #AGI researchers ought to study.

#Artists are people who are concerned with people, #engineers are people who are concerned with things, #psychologists are people who can oscillate between the two at will, and #philosophers are psychologists who use their ability to create new values.
Sunday mornings are my favorite time for reading and writing. This morning, I spent a few hours organizing a large volume of notes I've accumulated over the years so that I may finally publish them. I'm not ready to publish anything today, so instead I'll share this quote by Walter Kaufmann. #longread #philosophy #nietzsche #systemsthinking #agenticai #neuralengineering #substack

Spirit is the emergent signature of neural architecture.

#VR didn't really take off because not enough artists cared or were encouraged to care about it. Almost everything made for VR is just games by programmers or marketers. There are very few artistic VR games. Half-Life: Alyx is one.

And for this reason, VR remained merely a toy in the eyes of the world. It's a holiday gift for children. It's not taken very seriously, except by programmers and marketers. I can think of countless artistic VR games that could be made. It's really too bad.

Engineers see #neuralnetworks as algorithmized perception. That's why they use terms like "thinking," "reasoning," "learning," and "agent" to describe what is at bottom still just 1s and 0s. They are confused on this matter because they lack an education in #psychology.

On the other hand, #AGI, which is basically the algorithm of algorithms, might be possible. It is not impossible to imagine. But it will only happen once a proper psychologist decides to become an engineer.

What is the Will to Power of a Neural Network?

The question no one is asking
