I’m shutting down this instance today. Thanks to all of you that took part. You can keep following me, if you like, at @aral

See you elsewhere on the fediverse :)

@kensanata PS. Just used it. It’s awesome! Thank you :)
@kensanata Thanks, Alex, sounds very useful (not that there’s been much interest in the announcement but still).

Hi all,

Just a reminder that 2 weeks ago I announced that d25.community will be shut down today.

In case you haven’t had a chance to backup your followers list, I’m going to give a grace period until end of day (CET) on Sunday (Dec 17th).

To backup your followers, please go to Settings (https://d25.community/settings/preferences) → Data export and use the CSV link to download your followers list. You can then import them into any other Mastodon instance. https://d25.community/media/yx6uKEPN8hKsKMV_Oro https://d25.community/media/JEv215AWyPMIeOPXXNo

'...In February 2017, Microsoft announced Skype Lite, a brand-new edition of Skype just for India. A more spartan version of Microsoft’s marquee messaging service, Skype Lite is designed to run well on cheap Android phones and to handle calls over flaky 2G data networks — the trappings of an app made by a large, wealthy corporation for a large and largely poor emerging market. But that’s not all it does.

Skype Lite also taps into a giant government-owned database filled with the demographic and biometric records — names, dates of birth, addresses, phone numbers, photographs, iris and fingerprint scans — of more than a billion Indian citizens...'

India’s National ID Program May Be Turning The Country Into A Surveillance State

For seven years, India's government has been scanning the irises and fingerprints of its citizens into a massive database. The once a voluntary program was intended to fix the country's corr

PS. If you’re only following me on @aral, make sure to follow me on @aral for when d25.community is shut down / migrated to a new admin. I will only be posting updates from my personal instance from here on.
@sivy Hey Steve, yeah, of course – I have my own one-person instance. You can follow me at @aral :)

Hey folks,

As I’m no longer involved with the Internet of People initiative at DiEM25 & since this Mastodon was not adopted by the CC, I’m going to be shutting down d25.community in 2 weeks (December 13, 2017) unless someone else wants to take it over.

It’s hosted on CloudScale, on their smallest instance (1CHF/day). You will also need to be familiar with SSH and Git to carry out regular maintenance tasks like updates, etc.

Email me if interested: [email protected]

@Nezchan Agree. And let’s include homes also (instances of one) :)

“Women, I will let you in on a male secret. Men know that constantly self-proclaiming male 'feminists' are often predatory sleaze bags … they are viewed to be sex traitors.“—Julian Assange, DiEM25 Advisory Panel

“I am utterly a feminist in my disposition.”—Yanis Varoufakis, DiEM25 Coordinating Collective

These two statements are incompatible. DiEM members have a right to know where DiEM stands on this.
