Le Placard is a worldwide festival of headphone concerts, playing on the intimacy of isolated listening, and on the distortion of time, putting the listener in a state of concentration similar to that of musicians... Initiated in 1998 by Erik Minkkinen and Sylvie Astié, and connected to the internet since 1999, this festival operates in an original and participatory way, with a completely open program: each venue that decides to organise a Placard sets up a performance space (headphones only!), where musicians are invited to play. Each live performance is also streamed live on the internet. More than an event, Le Placard is a tactic.
La Générale is once again hosting a 72-hour Placard marathon, open to everyone, to the Parisian experimental scene in situ, and to anyone outside Paris who wishes to participate online via streaming tools.
