Not terribly active, you can probably find me in GrapheneOS replies.

When an entire class of technology states on the packaging that it was made in China but intended "for overseas use only," this should really give you pause before plugging it into your network.

You will find this verbiage on a lot of Android TV streaming boxes for sale at the major retailers. There's a very good reason the country that makes this crap doesn't want it on their own networks. My advice: If you have one of these Android streaming boxes on your network or get one as a gift, toss it in the trash. I'll have a lot more about this in the New Year, but these things are responsible for building out a botnet that currently has ~2M devices and is growing rapidly. https://blog.xlab.qianxin.com/kimwolf-botnet-en/

@GrapheneOS Do you think there is real value in "privacy" cell providers like Cape or Louis Rossman's? Would either of these actually give notable privacy benefits to users or is it all just privacy washing? Cape atleast claims to have their own routing infrastructure or whatever, which does seem like it could be a good privacy add, but does this actually mean anything against governments or mass surveillance companies like Palantir (who Cape's CEO is a former longtime exec of)?

Every user of Android and other Linux distributions, macOS and iOS in France has benefited from GrapheneOS contributing to open source projects used in these systems. Ideas we came up with for defenses were also deployed in these. French law enforcement literally uses our code.
Holy Shit, #Valve did a product launch in 2025 and did not mention AI a single fucking time. So refreshing.

A Dutch bank (Triodos Bankieren NL) has added explicit support for GrapheneOS and will be testing it going forward:

They join a growing number of banking apps actively permitting users to use a much more secure device instead of trying to ban it instead.

In order to provide better support for blind users, we maintain a fork of the open source TalkBack app fixing serious issues with it, modernizing it and making the builds reproducible. One of the goals of making our own Setup Wizard has also been integrating TalkBack support.
GrapheneOS Foundation can sign an NDA for this. We can act as a contractor for an Android OEM or one of their contractors. We need this early access so that we can start early due to the developer who usually does most of it being unavailable. If you can get us this, please help.

We need an Android OEM or someone working at one to provide us with early access to the Android 16 sources in order to have a smooth port this year. We need this before June. We requested it to help with this very difficult situation (see the linked thread) and still need it.

One of our two senior developers has been forcibly detained and conscripted to participate in a war. When they first went missing, we revoked their repository access as a precaution. We soon learned their disappearance was completely unrelated to GrapheneOS. Our priority has been keeping them safe.

Right now there are a lot of new eyes on Signal, and not all of them are familiar with secure messaging and its nuances. Which means there’s misinfo flying around that might drive people away from Signal and private communications. 1/
