@simonvarwell It’s such a fine balance. People need to feel heard, even if they aren’t well informed. But there’s always a danger that the incensed but ill-informed are the only people who show up.
Overall, the responses were positive and supportive of slowing traffic speeds and improving safety for cyclists and pedestrians, especially kids going to and from school. Resurfacing and light improvements coming in 2025, more to follow. #alamtg
Public comments in the Fernside virtual workshop included the classic pro-car canards, including a. We shouldn’t make bike lanes safer, nobody bikes on that street; b. What about bicyclists who don’t stop at stop signs? And c. We don’t need to improve streets, we just need police at every intersection 24 hrs a day. #alamtg
