https://www.france24.com/en/culture/20260604-french-iranian-author-marjane-satrapi-author-of-persepolis-dies-at-56 I'm sad that Marjane Satrapi has died.
I have often come across the quote below. Before reposting it, I wanted to verify it. And I found out it's from a 2005 Salon interview https://www.salon.com/2005/04/24/satrapi_2/ -- during the time I worked at Salon! A neat coincidence for me.
The c. 3600-year-old Nebra Sky Disc is considered the oldest known realistic depiction of the night sky. Instead of portraying stars as gods or mythical creatures, it shows them as simple, shining points, a remarkably modern in concept. With a diameter of 32 cm, the disc probably functioned as a calendar.

A bit of wisdom my dad always passed down from his dad was "there's no such thing as a free lunch*," which maybe sounds cynical but I think would have saved me some trouble with "freemium" services. So much of the enshittification we see online should be unsurprising when you think about it in that context.
