animals, sea life, fashion, news, books, cookery, new developments, politics, culture, etc. I write down what I think. Far too much evil in the world. Let's strive for peace. No direct messages, please. Will block!
NYC is so "out of control and crime ridden" that NYPD had to arrest (checks note) exactly zero people today.
100,000+ protestors. ZERO arrests.
ZERO.
This isn't only a major slap in Trump's face. It proves YET AGAIN that the only violence ICE fascists are facing, is violence ICE fascists incite. If you want to cut down on violence, cut ICE out of the equation and uphold the 5th Amendment instead. An actual President would do that. A wanna be king would never. And that's why we protest.

Quello che sta succedendo in queste ore negli Stati Uniti è semplicemente straordinario.

Un’onda - letteralmente un’onda - di massa e di protesta nei confronti di Donald Trump.

Parola d’ordine: “No Kings”

@mcnado Media outlets resented Biden because he was boring; all he did was his job.
Read this. Especially the final paragraph to understand what Mike Johnson, Trump, Bondi and damned near every elected Republican are afraid of. Who they refuse to stand up for, and who they bow down to. https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/oct/15/prince-andrew-virginia-giuffre-abuse-epstein-maxwell

"For Vance to suggest it’s “pearl clutching” to condemn those who were part of this group chat says a great deal about the vice president’s judgment."

Yes, it does. It says he has judged it to be in the best interests of his wish to be president that he pander to racist neo-Nazis. His judgment may be depressingly good about that.

JD Vance tries to downplay leak of disgusting Young Republican chats

For JD Vance to suggest it’s “pearl clutching” to condemn those who were part of a racist group chat says a great deal about the vice president's judgment.

This is where it gets really bad. Most "Enemy Indictments" are obviously bullshit (like Comey and James). This one may be valid.

Except...

Any federal indictment of a Trump "enemy" is brought out of spite. So we don't have any way of knowing if Bolton would be charged if, say, Harris were president. But maybe he would.

We have entered the phase where even guilty people should have their indictments dismissed, simply because Trump wanted them indicted.

Ex-Trump national security adviser John Bolton indicted

Former Trump administration national security adviser John Bolton has been charged with storing top secret records at home and sharing with relatives notes that contained classified information. The 18-count indictment Thursday also suggests classified information was exposed when operatives believed linked to the Iranian regime hacked Bolton’s email account in 2021 and gained access to sensitive material he had shared. The investigation into Bolton, who served for more than a year in President Donald Trump’s administration before being fired in 2019 and emerging as an outspoken critic of the Republican leader, burst into public view in August when the FBI searched his home in Maryland and his office in Washington.

The consistent way to understand Donald Trump is that he always does what he thinks is best for Donald Trump.

In this case, though, I can't see what he has in mind.

Why did he do this?

Trump says he has commuted sentence of former US Rep. George Santos in fraud case

President Donald Trump said Friday he had commuted the sentence of former U.S. Rep. George Santos, who is serving more than seven years in federal prison after pleading guilty to fraud and identity theft charges.

That's not quite right. A pardon excuses criminal liability, but it doesn't excuse all civil liability, nor does it expunge the record. BATF regards a pardon as restoration of federal firearms rights, but states can have their own restrictions. Holding a job that requires no convictions might be possible with a pardon, but it's not guaranteed. And, absent expungement, both the conviction and the pardon are on the person's record.

"don't inted to" - aw nice. There it is, the good old British explorer spirit. Rule, Britannia :D

@davidrvetter.bsky.social Fish and chips, for one, is Italian. I'm sure that most of the others mentioned were typical medieval fare. Pasties might be a slight exception due to their portability, but lots of old pie-like recipes exist from those times.

As an aside, I wonder if this person has ever had kedgeree?
