Sing it with me, everyone 🎶

This hand is your hand.
This hand is my hand.
Oh wait, that’s your hand.
No, wait, it’s my hand.

Tonight I continued my slow transformation into an old historian by smoking my first good cigar while drinking scotch in front of a fire outside. It was a welcome bit of escape from a rough week, and I’ll be doing it again soon.

I literally have nothing hopeful, helpful, or humorous to offer right now. I think I'll take a social media sabbatical and let the dust settle. I don't want to add more shadows to the darkness others are already experiencing.

Peace.

Last night’s live Lore show in Boston was one of my favorite moments of the whole year.

But the best part? Having my teenagers in the audience for the first time, and knowing they got to hear the roar of 800+ people as I took the stage. I can *still* feel the hugs they gave me after the show.

I know the world is burning right now, but I’ve built a sweet writing setup using split-screen in Scrivener…with my book text on one side and the PDF research outline I marked up on my iPad on the other… that I now feel less anxious when I just put my head down and write all day.

Alright, let’s build a community here.

Follow me if you’ve ever enjoyed one of my podcasts (Lore, Cabinet of Curiosities, Bridgewater, etc), love history and folklore, enjoy productivity tips and late night rants, or know me from The Other Place.

And share this post so others can play along!

Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse.

I know I’ll have a script in my hand, but I really prefer to memorize the “connective tissue” between the stories of my live Lore show.

It’s occurred to me that if I could just teach my dog to use the house key, I wouldn’t have to leave the couch to let her in.
@weiser Thanks! I’ve always had a closet big enough for my homemade booth, but that’s changing soon, so I decided to pull the trigger. Fingers crossed it has the same “feel” on audio.
Over 8 years into this podcast game, I’m finally upgrading to a real booth. Better late than never!
