@katherine_montalto Yes, very useful for that!
@sinituulia Thank you so much, really appreciate it!

@sinituulia Yes, similar ideas have been floated around, and I myself have run a weekly alt text challenge, for a little while.

Definitely many ways we can bring attention to this cause, and lead by example!

@nononymous Thank you so much for the shout-out!

@Taze

@sinituulia Yes, it's unfortunate that the call to "turn off" images on World Sight Day and/or Global Accessibility Awareness Day didn't get wider support from admins.

For some people, this really is the only way to understand the importance of making sure everyone feels included.

At least we have folks, like you, reminding us of this daily!

Highlighting the importance of well-written image descriptions

Thoughts on Alt Text and trust:
You never know quite what something is like until you experience it, if even a little bit. Today none of the images on Mastodon have loaded for me so I've just been reading the image descriptions. And it's a faint but remarkable feeling to read and not see, and trust that the picture is like someone has written it to be. Just a sort of generic trust in someone else to have your well-being, comfort and ease in mind, in this little act of goodwill and duty.
