@SweetAIBelle usually, yes, that's true. But some things are still actively maintained there... I shudder to think
@keithnator3000 Exactly. If you have download buttons to dodge, then clearly something is wrong. And I guess no one did take a second to think twice about it

If you use sourceforge to distribute code, I automatically think you don't know what you're doing

@gracicot you weren't joking
@gracicot I like it! What do you mean operators on newline? Like <<?
@gracicot tell me whatcha got! CoreGuidelines, K&R, Linux Kernel, LLVM? PascalCase, camelCase, snake_case? Spaces or tabs? Spaces between method and parentheses? There's so much room for weird!

When you read someone else's code and they have a weird style

@trinityparadox definitely. Though this is coming from ZeroMQ's regularly updated guide. Maybe C++ isn't as commonly used? I might eventually submit a PR to fix it, or at least document it properly.

Someone makes a hammer. It's useful. They sell it to people who need hammers.

VC/private equity sees that hammers are useful so buy a stake in the hammer company.

They seek to increase hammer sales by convincing people who don't need hammers to buy them by adding pointless "enterprise" features that make the hammers more annoying.

They also seek recurring revenue by making worse hammers and switching to a monthly fee.

Hammer users find it all ridiculous.

Welcome to the tech industry.
