Setting up a second home here in case Twitter becomes unliveable.

As with Twitter, I tend to post a mix of amateur political commentary, idle thoughts and whimsy, silly jokes, puzzles and trivia.

As a ‘head of thought leadership’ who’s more a curator of thought leaders than a thought leader himself, I’m never happier than working with people who know their subject and express their thoughts in a coherent and well-structured way, but who make proofing errors I can correct.
Back for the second Mastadon wave. And just remembered in the nick of time that it’s actually spelled ‘Mastodon’.

"I've just been presented with a sculpted gold award for my winning entry in a show for lions, tigers and donkeys."

"Big cat ass trophy?"

"Not at all; it was a triumph."

The Italian barista at work says "you're welcome" before I've thanked him, which always throws me, though I appreciate in some languages it's normal with the equivalent phrase. Swedes say "varsågod", for example. Which reminds me: we played a homemade version of Would I Lie to You? at my parents' one Xmas. I wrote a lie for my Swedish wife, which she pulled off: that for years after she'd moved to the UK, she thought the correct response to someone holding a door open for you was "my pleasure".
Morning! How’s my merry if tiny band of followers today? Looking forward to a Wednesday full of wonders, well-I-nevers and would-you-believe-its?
When a sign at a ten-pin bowling venue looks like an introduction to differential calculus that’s been translated from English into Japanese and then back into English.

Very much enjoying the fact that at the moment, Mastodon for me is just the @hedders and @alistair_king show.
Is your 12-year-old son as terse in WhatsApp messages as mine was here when letting me know it was acceptable for me to enter the birthday party venue from which I was collecting him?
One of the great things about Mastodon is I can attribute the paucity of likes for my puns not on how shit they are but that I haven’t yet got much of a follower base… which is, I admit, probably connected.
