Wow.
I know, it's been a new loss everyday with this regime. People are being disappeared and people will die without food aid and healthcare. It's impossible to get through the grief of all it.
As for PBS, it's so personal for me. As a very lonely and poor latchkey kid of the 60's and 70's with a divorced mom who really didn't make it home many nights, I literally depended on PBS tv to keep myself from freaking out. There only a very few channels on tv, and that was my only human contact, aside from wild kids outside.
Mr Rogers became my dad figure. Julia Child inspired me to cook for me and my brother, even just cheese and crackers.
It was always on. It kept us company.
It did the same when my own child was little. We were too poor to afford cable tv, so there was our entertainment, children's programming and educational programs to get through the housebound tedium of early motherhood. I chose to delay going back to work, but that meant no money.I still need PBS. It's my family.
