A healthy civilisation draws a line around the sacred and refuses to price what's inside it. The line moves, but the line exists.

A civilisation in decay erases that line.

Why prediction markets are a sure sign that our civilisation is in decay

Prediction markets are the clearest single sign our civilisation has entered a late and decadent stage. The reason isn't that they're new or sinister. It's that the case for them is defensible, the technology works, the outputs are useful, but the long-term effect is corrosive anyway.

My fun project of the weekend? create a script for backup / restore so I could migrate from Debian 13 to test Fedora 43. Surprise? Missed a folder with a ton of data in the backup. But what is a migration and OS reinstall without some massive data loss. The important thing is on my NAS so no biggies.
Current setup, Fedora 43 in my ROG Strix G513RC. Linux has been always a part of my heart. Almost 24 years of daily use, with my favorite being Debian forever.

60 Minutes Australia has always had some interesting DPRK coverage. This one on fake IT workers is really good. They actually catch a few on the line and talk to them. https://youtu.be/kIcw6vpmAHI?si=qWDQXLnaZKmhMiJK

I’d encourage companies build tabletops around this insider scenario.

The collaboration industry gave us Notion, Slack, Jira, Monday, Teams, Clickup, and AI agents trying to rebuild the whole stack.

The average knowledge worker switches apps hundreds of times a day.

And the output = a simulation of collective engagement with very little else...

Collaboration Is a Lie. Ownership Is Dead. And Your Standups Are Theater.
