1920x1920/3 layers = 5760x5760
Using this idea, HMDs might be compared based on effective resolution and no. of layers.
2880x2880/4 layers = 8640x11520
3840x3840/5 layers = 11520x19200
Increasing depth layers is costly, so the next few years will be increasing view size.
