‘Has a charmingly evasive attitude to biography’ Guardian

I wrote a novel called Muscle.

It should be (once was?) a place of complicated delight, because this is where the people are. That's an upside that should be essentially impossible to overwhelm. But capitalism is somehow managing it.

I finished my full year of drawing every day (starting when I was 42, never drawn much of anything before).

I'm torn between wanting to find places to post about it – because it's been an interesting experience and I want to encourage other folk to try it, if not for a year then to give drawing (for a week, a month) a go – and also really not wanting to, because the internet at large is such a joyless place now that the idea of spending time and energy putting stuff out into it is exhausting.

The first is that in collaboration with The Alasdair Gray Archive we're commissioning four animations.

They're part of our shared work celebrating and preserving Alasdair’s legacy, art and writing.

Animators will be paid £500 and applications close on Monday 8th December. Email [email protected] if you have questions or to apply. A few more details below.

but then i probably wouldnt be spending all my time demonising immigrants, so we're just very different people, starmer and i
If there was a good chance i was going to be followed into government by a gang of outright fascists i might *not* go out of my way to hand them nifty tools of oppression and surveillance
I am still drawing everyday and almost every day I don't know what to draw. Does anyone have any suggestions for good photo resources I could turn to in moments of low inspiration?

I’m still drawing every day, at least a little.

I’ve found that about every 70 days it becomes a real drag and for a while I hate everything I draw.

It’s passed before, it’ll probably pass again.

My Edinburgh Festivals show bookmarking/sharing site is up!
https://festies.co.uk

You can search events! You can bookmark them! You can follow pals! You can see their events!

It's like Letterboxd but entirely Edinburgh Festivals-centric.

Invitation only atm but if you're seeing this you're welcome to one, just @ me.

A Voight-Kampff test for British politicians and journalists:

A Palestinian child is approaching a food truck at an aid site in Gaza.

500 yards away is a heavily-armed, British-trained IDF soldier.

500 yards away from the IDF soldier is Bobby Vylan. He has a microphone and looks like he could at any moment say some pretty incendiary things.

Who do you leap in to save?
