If your friends aren't talking to you about

- creatine
- protein-infused coffee
- AI agents
- Annapurna Base Camp trek
- Scuba-diving off Netrani island
- Prediction markets

then are they really your friends?

@Edent I'm not sure if this is a known issue, but searching for the term ".txt" on your website results in the URL looking like "https://shkspr.mobi/blog/?s=.txt", and it returns the homepage in txt format instead of the search results?

That's all, hope you have a great day!

Romance (the genre) isn't really my thing, which is why "This Is How You Lose The Time War" wasn't a perfect 10 for me, but the line "I want to meet you in every place I ever loved" will never not be iconic. It goes SO hard.

@locustangerine yes! I run https://solarcene.community which is a fully solar powered mastodon instance, it runs of a small system so has aggressive power saving to the point that it will regularly shutdown to save power, so you'll social media will be limited. You can monitor it's schedule with @solar_bot

It's really an experiment but there are users that use it as their sole instance. I've actually not yet reached that point but have an account there @solaradmin

More details here https://git.solarcene.community/smallsolar/solarcene_community_setup/src/branch/main/power_setup

SolarCene

A friendly #solarpunk inspired mastodon instance running fully on solar power (OrangePi 5, network switch, network router). Please note that this is a test instance so uptime cannot be guaranteed!

Mastodon hosted on solarcene.community

I hate it here.

Investigating a Possible Scammer in Journalism’s AI Era | The Local

A suspicious pitch from a freelancer led editor Nicholas Hune-Brown to dig into their past work. By the end, four publications, including The Guardian and Dwell, had removed articles from their sites.

Hey! I’m CEO of a company that has just raised $10 billion for an app that takes the hard work out of enjoying music. Did you know, some people waste hours each day listening to “tunes”. Our AI will listen to it for you and summarise it in a 15 second scream leaving you more time to focus on what's really important in life: adding value.

Are there any #PersonalFinance #ExpenseTracking apps or tools out there that combine traditional expense tracking with whatever it is that #Splitwise does?

I want to be able to record my expenses, see how much I owe others, and how much they owe me, and get a feel for all of my accounts. Does anything like this exist?

The search for a personal finance tool continues

I've never been adept at saving or managing my personal finances. I'm getting there with occasional bouts of learning, even though my impulse purchases and u...

"LinkedIn Is The Fakest Platform of Them All"

If you still aren't convinced, here's an evergreen look at the delusional weirdos that populate LinkedIn.

LinkedIn Is the Fakest Platform of Them All - Slashdot

Prospect magazine, in a recent piece: "LinkedIn doesn't know me anymore," someone complained to me recently. "What do you mean?" I asked. She explained that the platform has replaced the old "recommended jobs" section, which used to show her quite useful job openings based on her previous searches a...
