Good gravy. 26.4 is such a mess. I already worked around a bug that draws an opaque backdrop in *front* of the text in Drafts editor if "Reduce Transparency" is enabled, and now I find that setting is also causing some pretty generic table view based sheets to appear completely blank!
Maybe this wouldn't be quite as bad if they didn't ship a whole major OS redesign that made everyone and their brother go turn on "Reduce Transparency”
@gruber @jimmylittle In this specific case, I would argue that, for the vast majority of users, Apple is not the platform here – Netflix is. Most of those users would rather the consistency be that Netflix works the same on all their devices, not that the video player works the same across services.
Even the Apple TV owners, who likely also have a second TV in bedroom or something that does not also have an Apple TV connected.
NOTICE: iOS 26.4 and Drafts Sync Efficiency
TLDR; if you have not yet installed the iOS 26.4 update it might be best to wait a little while, because it includes a bug that makes Drafts sync (and other apps that rely on iCloud sync) less immediate. New blog post: Small ways the App Store could be improved for developers
Setting aside major policy controversies, the App Store has a large number of minor issues almost 18 years after opening that Apple could fix to make life easier for developers but has neglected to fix.

This is a bad take. Apple exerting control over what UI conventions are allowed, or even required, would be disastrous. I dont think you can carve out a special case for video players.
