Storms took out power for us early yesterday evening. Portable solar battery powered some fans and the refrigerator through the night and had enough juice left to brew some morning coffee as I got the panel setup to start recharging
My daughter who is about to be 6 drew this picture today, I presume inspired by us playing with a little toy disco ball and a flashlight last night, and I am blown away at how cool it is!
I have been mulling this "Stupid-Americans" post over for a few days now.
https://www.reddit.com/r/thebulwark/comments/1ljbvtw/hottest_take_stupidamericans_are_the_new/
And, look, I get it, "stupid" is reductive, offensive, rude, potentially de-humanizing. But, also, we need to face reality. Some people, like Trump, are deeply.... stupid?!
Modern Nazi types do exist. Wishing some of our opponents are not evil is actually a really bad strategy for any democracy. (consider the Nazi bar analogy.) Is pretending the there aren't "stupid" people also?
Bot-splaining has given me new insight on the grossness of mansplaining.
We'll be seeing so much more of this, I suspect.

Risking being a "not all men" villain, I will echo a thought from a friend with some mild autistic traits -- some degree of what gets labeled mansplaining can be a kind of info-dumping, friendly, well-intentioned, has nothing much to do with gender.
The intention behind some bot-splaining might be similar, i suppose, but still, ick
I can take no credit for this girls amazing outfit choices, but I did get this next size up bike, which was a gift from some generous neighbors, all cleaned and tuned up for her. She'll keep up with the rest of us a little better with these bigger wheels I think. Leveling up!
