Man, every part of this blog post sucks.

This is what happens to discourse when the focus is on whether AI tools "work," necessarily a complex and shifting topic that gives bad-faith actors lots of room to sow confusion, and not on the ethical catastrophe caused by adopting or allowing AI products into OSS development processes.

Many people may recall Eternal September (in 1993) — when Usenet membership increased overwhelmingly — marking the annual September rush of student joins. The ensuing moderation challenges changed the culture of Usenet (the largest Internet discussion fora back then). Many early Usenet adopters left; they reconnected with their communities elsewhere. While this onslaught of “newbies” knew little of Usenet's traditional cultural norms, they nonetheless benefitted greatly from these novel connections to discuss and learn together with people worldwide. The times were turbulent then, but eventually new cultural norms emerged.
Look at what happened with Claude Code. We learned via the source code leak that the whole thing is a Rube Goldberg machine of shoddy regexes and Markdown snippets telling Claude to lie, and yet proverbial moments later, Anthropic announces a new product that *totally works this time I swear* and all of a sudden discourse about AI tools "working" is completely reset.
Getting stuck in that discourse loop opens you up to being perpetually distracted from the far more important ethical problems.
Soooo... you're complaining about the noise from a nightclub that's been open for forty years when you bought a flat opposite eight years ago?
Why am I unsurprised this guy is a property developer?
Some asshat out here calling themselves an "ethical AI vegan" because they only use corporate AI tools in "uwu smol" ways, and, I dunno, I guess they do a land acknowledgment before they boil a lake or whatever.
If anyone is an "AI vegan" it's me -- I don't use these tools at all, ever, because they are unethical. Telling me that they are delicious is not going to make them ethical.
Also, I will endlessly berate you about your use.
That's veganism, you're welcome.

Why am I getting the xenophobic racist hyper-violent perverted Christian cultism but without the cool floating sky ships BioShock promised
I would like a refund
When asking people to use correct names is "crossing a line," but using incorrect names isn't, we've really fallen far as a society. Using the correct name used to be a day one thing in education.
"Robert?”
"I prefer Grace.”
"Excellent, welcome Grace.”
It's not difficult. @adhdeanasl https://beige.party/@adhdeanasl/116414682455732841
Well, it’s happened. I have been reported by the school staffer about my stopping the meeting the other day to address her and another staffer’s deadnaming a trans student. I “crossed a boundary,” according to the report. They’ve taken me off the graduation ceremony I was set to interpret with a team. The graduation is for students I’ve known for years, some of them since kindergarten. It is what it is. I’ve asked the agency to contact the school superintendent, as I suspect the order came from that staffer and not the administration, but we shall see. I do not regret stepping out of my role. Not one bit.
