Saw some dramatic mammatus clouds near Roslyn today on my way over the past. This cell moved south to north over I-90. Thankfully, I hit it right as it started to fall apart, so no hail.

The Pakistan mulberry made it through its second winter (it just needed some time getting a bit larger in the milder Tacoma winter weather before it made it down to family in SW Washington), and is now flowering.

This variety has much larger mulberries, so there's a greater fruit-to-effort ratio.

Mulberries tend to be tolerant of extreme heat and drought, so I like to think of them as a particularly climate resilient fruit. #gardening #washington #fruit

If you saw a nerdy guy knelt down next to a sidewalk taking pictures of native lupines in Tacoma tonight . . . that was me. Saw a patch of these on our way to dinner and we had to stop.

The bicolor lupine (Lupinus bicolor) is a particularly small lupine that does well in otherwise rough situations. Bee-friendly, small, but with a delightful blue-white flower color. They grow from BC to Baja California.
