I am a blind game developer, a11y advocate, and an Accessibility Engineer working with KDE e.V. on Plasma/KDE accessibility.

Views are my own, not that of organizations I work with.

A lot of what I was (and am somewhat still) struggling with was extremely personal. I'm keeping it that way.

But... Just...

I had to rip my PC tower from the floor because its feet were stuck to it. Because of a spilled drink.

So yeah. It was that bad. It no longer is.

A combination of mental wellneing issues, subtle hardware failure (now fixed), and my room being an atrocious place to work in... made working on Plasma extremely difficult for me lately.

I still did try, and I intend to finish what I started over the past couple of weeks.

But ugh... Don't be me, y'all... If your brain tells you to stop trying to program for a while, you need to listen. And you need to solve the problem making you feel that way.

Would anyone watch me do KDE dev streams even though I'm not that great at doing KDE dev streams yet?

Because I just expensed a boom arm...

And about that whole "proprietary software becoming less accessible thing:"

You could say "then just use FOSS equivalents"

But, you see, dear sir, my government is not free and open-source.

I'm tired of hearing about Trump
I'm tired of hearing about age verification
I'm tired of hearing about AI
I'm tired of hearing about mass surveillance
I'm tired of proprietary software becoming less accessible to the blind or otherwise
I'm tired of everything

I want to write code
I want to make 3D models
I want to make music

and I want this constant state of anxiety to *shut the fuck up.*

What's on your mind?
POV: the apple magic mouse engineer making a drill
Admittedly tempted to write my own programming language just so no LLM on the planet can write or learn it

...color-coded*, whoops

Also the colors are impossible for me to distinguish meaning a household chore I could previously do on my own now requires the help of someone with better sight.

I'm sorry but that just shouldn't be necessary.

context:

Property manager replaced our neighbourhood's trash dumpsters with a stupidly sophisticated system of color-coated recycling bins that rarely get emptied.

Garbage piles up. Wind picks it up. It lands on peoples' lawns. And no one picks it up.

Sighted parent didn't see it, slipped on it, ended up in the emergency room.

Will anything change? Please? Ugh. Smells like shit too.
