@trevorkay Just discovered Screen Sizes and I love it - super useful! A tiny feature idea: a link in Settings *back* to the URL. I had made it standalone on my iPhone, wanted to try it on my Mac… and had completely forgotten the URL - I was stuck. To help folks with portability (and sharing the app!), it might be helpful.

(I did find a path back to Safari and a URL, though it’s super buried: Settings; Toast; Screen Sizes; Get The App; and *then* the iOS “open in Safari” button. Whew! 😉)

I pulled out my phone to listen to some podcasts in @overcastfm (current version as of this morning) and a bunch of already-downloaded episodes have reverted to “waiting to download.” Most or all do not use DAI, fwiw. @rebound was downloaded at home this morning… and I had been in the middle of listening to @clockwise!

I download so that things are resident *on my device*, and once they’re there they shouldn’t change unless I change them. This makes no sense…!

@marcoarment Longtime fan and daily user of @overcastfm Today I was listening to a long podcast and thought about setting a custom speed, and saw these three ghostly blue lozenges I’ve never noticed before. They’re not direct controls, though they are tappable and change settings… I think? Or are they overriding settings? I can’t find any Help for more info. I know you rarely reply to user questions, but… what do these mean? How am I supposed to use them?

Actually, that could be perfect. Please, do wait until the dead of winter to send the #NationalGuard here from Texas and other places that have no idea how to cope with the cold. Their SUVs won’t start, they’ll slip on the snow, and we’ll just giggle and step around them. I’m sure there’s a good #ICE on ice joke there too.

OK, today is a double: a little later on, I was in the Loop, and it’s also predictably quiet here. No protests, not even a lingering handful of people with signs for anything. Does #Chicago need “help” from the #NationalGuard? Nope. Is anyone interfering with #ICE? Also nope. Labor Day, Sept. 1, 2025
Today I was way up in the north part of #Chicago, and I took another video to show just how peaceful everything continues to be here. No riots, no protests, no emergency. Anyone who thinks Chicago is a terrible, lawless land has watched too many 80’s post-apocalyptic movies. We don’t need “help” from federal armed forces, or #ICE, or a federalized #NationalGuard. We’re good, we really are. Labor Day, Sept 1, 2025.

I was out today in a totally different part of Chicago and I thought I’d post another video, since Chicago is a really big place and it’s easy to say “but you’re not in the place where the riots are happening.”

We have no riots. No emergency, no civil unrest, no “killing fields”. Mostly just cicadas. I was walking on a city street on the North Side of #Chicago. There’s no excuses here for federalization of the #NationalGuard or #ICE.

#LeaveChicagoPeaceful

Speaking of #ICE and the possibility of the #NationalGuard being mobilized to “save” #Chicago , I thought I’d share Chicago today with you. (Apologies for the glitch at the end; I pressed the wrong button). Non-story short: Chicago is peaceful and calm. There are no riots, civil unrest, or emergencies. No killing fields.

Also, if you send the military here, you’ll probably cause that. I just want to document the which is the cause and which is the effect, in case this turns into 2020 again.

@marcoarment FYI a small visual artifact in a podcast’s playing icon on my Lock Screen. Note the two little white lines at the bottom when it’s on the Lock Screen, that don’t appear to be in the artwork. FYI. (Adding alt text to the images made me wonder if that’s Apple’s now playing lock screen widget and not yours per se, and out of your hands. Well, fyi anyway.)
Ok, here’s my big conspiracy theory: is the hero image for #macOS26 actually based on Craig Federighi’s hair? Coincidence, or sycophantic tribute by a designer to gain favor within the ranks? #HairForceOne (Or am I just jealous?)
