For as long as I've known about Free Software I always thought that using it in education was a no-brainer. Education establishments can reduce their costs, students can learn how any piece of software works and local communities can administer their own systems without being dependent upon foreign companies.

The reasons why Free Software isn't just the normal state of things in schools is interesting to consider, and reveals a lot about how the current economy and education system works.

Who would've thought that the bug I was chasing for 12 hours was a result of Superfeedr's free PuSH service "normalizing" Atom feeds

A decentralized web would give power back to the people online https://techcrunch.com/2016/10/09/a-decentralized-web-would-give-power-back-to-the-people-online/ (No it doesn't mention Mastodon, I was kinda hoping it would)
Yay! network up + ssh + tmux \o/
Now I somehow have to get up networking and the layout - fingers crossed - is correct via ssh.
I have the strangest keyboard problem in a remote QEMU Linux installation console. The the keyboard layout is fucked up and loadkeys does nothing. I can't type `:`, `<`, and `+` and all other special characters are mapped totally different, but at least typeable. I can't figure out which layout this is. - is / , ^ is ~ , & is ^ , " is @ and I have at least 5 times > but no < . This is HELL!
@Gargron: I'm currently preparing a vserver for a Mastadon installation/instance :)
