But a clone wouldn't ship 26k LoC to add ActivityPub support*, publish all source code under AGPL, or support full data export and migration.
Most TikTok competitors are driven by financial motives, whereas Loops isn't.
This matters. A lot.

A curiously frequent manifestation of #Mozilla Derangement Syndrome: when young men who don't have financial literacy attempt to interpret standard non-profit disclosure forms. And because they've only seen money and documents in movies, think that every page is proof of a conspiracy.
HN being insane lately. Some fully sincere anti-Mozilla arguments I have seen in the past few days (these are bad and I disagree with them):
- Mozilla and Google are a duopoly
- Mozilla is "hiding" their spending (in publicly released reports)
- Quantum was an abandoned project and never used
- Mozilla is "pretending" to be a nonprofit but is secretly a corporation!
- Mozilla is running out of money
- Mozilla is high on the hog with too much money
