I'm a Christian, husband, and father of 7 (biological and adoptive), geek of all trades (master of none), wannabe maker. Morlock.
Political leaningIf you can tell, then I’m doing something wrong.

It’s happening again, and I have no idea what fixed it last time anymore. Except this time I also can’t see my router, because it claims to not be connected to the internet. Yet I’m remotely accessing the local computers from across town.

What I really want from technology these days is passivity. Physical buttons, and PASSIVITY.

No guessing, no anticipating, no predicting.
No autofill, no autocorrect, no autodrive and PLEASE God no autoplay.

Just be inert until acted upon!

I'm stuck between near luddites, and genuine geniuses with nobody on my mediocre middle level to talk to.
Everyone around me thinks I am some kind of computer wizard, except I see so many people on here that are genuine wizards, where I just have a little project ambition and a pro-grade ability to google well. When I run into stupid issues like I can't log into this computer via RDP, I feel like an absolute idiot still, while the people around me just think it's some kind of magic to even think about remote access.

This is why I love @IceCubesApp so much. The AI image alt-text generation saves so much time. I usually have to tweak it a touch, but the majority is taken care of automatically.

Sometimes I mute people who never use alt text and I know I'm often behind on adding mine, plus mine isn't world-class....but as the mother of a partially-sighted son, and a supporter of as much access to information as possible: Please take the time to add alt text.

Also the same with my OctoPi. Same machine can't see it, but the machine right next to it can. Weirdest is that I'm sharing mouse and keyboard over the network between those two machines.
Here's one I can't understand: I have an IP camera. It works just fine. I can see it from most of the machines in my network. There is one PC that doesn't see it however. PC1 can't see Camera1, PC2 can. PC1 can see PC2 just fine though, so I'm really confused.

a friend of mine just booted Linux on an Intel 4004! (yes, the first microprocessor)

Stories like this are why I keep avoiding LinkedIn.

There’s always a part of me that shudders seeing this on my watch each morning.
