Birmingham (🇬🇧) based. Reader, bad cricketer, cat owner. Jack of few trades and master of none. Perennial procrastinator and abandoner of new hobbies. Political when I can bear to face the state of things. Academic arts and humanities librarian. Interests as diverse as my scattered attention. No idea what I’m doing.
A casual reminder that, when describing resources, it’s sometimes absolutely essential to include the definite article 😁 #librariansofmastodon #librarylife
@jonwesleyhuff I enjoyed it. I think it (deliberately) had the same kind of children’s book ‘quest’ storyline as Northern Lights, which maybe some felt a little tired - and perhaps the fantastical qualities could feel rather overdone compared to HDM? However, I think these choices become a lot more understandable in The Secret Commonwealth.
Watched the 3 Minutes West / Dutch National Ballet #coppelia yesterday. Just came across it randomly, expecting Delibes… After an initial discombobulation, it was captivating: a cute take on the story (with a couple of more nods to the Hoffmann original), with lovely music and a really great cast of dancers. Did miss some of the Delibes bangers though. #ballet
@jonwesleyhuff I can *highly* recommend The Secret Commonwealth. It gave me the same feeling of excited wonder that I got from The Subtle Knife and I’m on tenterhooks for the third instalment of The Book of Dust now.
Watching #hisdarkmaterials S03E02 and I have one recurring question:
Who is doing Mrs. Coulter’s ironing in this remote cove?

Went to the pub with husband to digest S3E1 of #hisdarkmaterials and effuse copiously over the books that were a huge part of our dating conversations 15 years ago.

Glad the wait is over for this - but not, as yet, The Book of Dust pt.3. A good moment, if you ask us, for Pullman to call time on his presence on Musk’s World of the Dead and get scribbling!!

@Infolitgroup Very much chimes with our experience here at one of the UK’s smaller institutions too. Also feeling a stronger will from academics to get us involved, which may mitigate some of the issues about reach down the line… so long as the students are switched on or have turned up!
@OlivierGodechot Good luck to the students putting this in their reference list 😆
Few days away with husband after a tough couple of weeks, MH-wise. Always enjoy a trip to Europa-Park in Baden-Württemberg, Germany for a reset. And it’s so pretty here! #europapark #baden-württemberg #rollercoasters #themepark
